From Penang to Sekinchan | Raya Holiday 2015

Sekinchan is one of the best destinations for tourist who sought for a one-day trip or weekend getaway in Malaysia! It is well known as a fishing village as well as paddy farming. As such, you would love it if you are a nature seeker.

After brief planning, I made my drive to there from Penang during this Raya holiday. This should be my first time travelling alone, and I had fun doing it. Looking forward to the next weekend getaway trip alone!

Landmark of Sekinchan

After Tanjung Malim toll exit, you will have to drive through some urban areas (a.k.a. Jalan Sungai Panjang) before reaching the village called Sekinchan.

Upon reaching the town, my first destination was the hotel that I have booked - Golden Harvest Hotel. However, due to it was still an hour away from check-in time, I drove around the town to get familiar with the roads and paths - while looking for lunch. Anyway, I managed to find the location of the hotel, too.

Below are the hotel I was going to stay in, and also it offers bicycle for short-term rental.

Passed by paddy fields which were not greenery, due to it was post-harvest time.

Paddy Gallery

My first tourist-must-visit place was the Paddy Processing Factory (a.k.a. Paddy Gallery).

Upon reaching, you can already smell the fragrance of paddy:

Not forgetting to capture the sky-and-land pictures around the factory:

Entrance fee is RM5 per adult (free for children) and you get a pack of rice as welcome gift. Firstly, the staff will guide you to a room where videos about paddy processing procedures will be played. When the video is ended, a working staff will answer all your questions and doubts about paddy processing. You can choose Mandarin or Cantonese-speaking room, though.

Before leaving the Gallery, you can proceed to its souvenir shop downstairs for purchase of local products and foods made of rice, and etc.

On the way to the next destination, Ah Ma House:

It is one of the most popular local delicacy shop, famous with its pineapple tart, kuih bangkit, kuih kapit, and other local foods and products. It is located about 2KM away from the Paddy Gallery; both are in the same road, so you will definitely have no problem to locate.

Not going to Pantai Redang is like you never been to Sekinchan, and it is the main reason people come to Sekinchan.

It was so crowded on the way to the beach, that some people opted to cycle instead of driving car.

Before reaching the beach side, you will pass by this place where fishermen park their boats. This is located opposite Sekin Fisherman Village Hotel and Resort.

The next day, I managed to wake up as early as 7 a.m. just to take photo of the sunrise. The paddy field area is just 2 minutes drive away from the hotel I stayed.
